Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shakar is the American and British sitar artist. She was the first woman in her age group to receive an award from the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Shankar is one of India's most promising stars on the sitar. She's the child of Ravi Shankar and a former student. Born in London and grew up in New Delhi, she spent the early years of her life traveling between London as well as New Delhi. When she was 13 she staged her first show on stage in New Delhi. Then she moved in Encinitas CA, where she earned the High School diploma with honors in the year 1999. Anouskha's career as a musician and performer is remarkable, even at her age. Her father has been with her to numerous performances over many years. She released Anourag her debut album on her own in 1998. The following year, she released the Grammy nomination-winning Live on stage at Carnegie Hall. Her career on stage is extensive for she has performed in most of the world's major venues. Later, she moved to California to attend high school. Anoushka Shankar began her musical studies when she was nine. After four years she played her first appearance on the sitar in Delhi during her father's 75th birthday celebration. Anoushka has gained lots of knowledge by traveling around the globe with her dad. She appeared at Carnegie Hall in her teenage years, and recorded at George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. In recognition of being one of the top musicians in Asian Arts, she was presented with the House of Commons Shield by British Parliament.
